During half-term break, the MHS Eco Council challenged the Middle and High school students to take pictures of nature in Rome. We wanted to thank the many students who showed their interest and took part in this challenge. After having carefully reviewed the submissions it’s safe to say we have amazing photographic talent here at RIS... we found it really challenging to choose the winner!
The top three pictures were chosen by following certain criteria, among which: nature, beauty and creativity... plus bonus points if the flora or fauna was mentioned.
Finally we can announce our winners and their fantastic pictures. Congratulations to everyone who took part and to our winners!
1st place David L.🥇
2nd place Emma C.🥈
3rd place Vittoria C.🥉
The following is a short interview with David L. - the winner of our photographic contest!
Why did you choose to enter this picture?
I think that it’s a unique picture, I took it very spontaneously, and I hope that this feeling is translated into people's perception of it.
What did you find interesting about this picture?
I think the fact that the two colors, yellow and green work very well together to create a sense of nature, and also the use of an extremely wide aperture, creates a Bokeh effect to give a feeling of immersion.
Where did you take this picture and why?
I was at my local park, and for some reason this flower caught my attention.
What does this picture connotate for you?
The saturated warm colours of this picture are visually very pleasurable and welcoming at first sight, they make me feel connected with nature. The flower at the center serves as a highlight to its beauty in its simplicity.
Our winners' pictures will be put on the MHS Eco Council board at school, and will receive telematic awards for their amazing work!
